So, I just got back from my high school's first prom (my class, the class of 2010, is the first graduating class at my high school) and I have to say, it was GREAT. This is the third prom that I have been to, and the fourth or fifth school dance that I have been to. But this was probably the best dance I have been to - ever. We had a rockin' DJ (for once!) and almost all my friends from my high school were there. The last song that played was "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns 'N' Roses, which was a GREAT way to end the night. :3
The thing that made it, though, was that I was my awesome friend 's ride. Our prom was on the Marine base here in town, which I had never been to before. Well, come to find out, the base is like a freakin' city on the inside! It's HUGE. First, Jazzie and I missed the entrance that we were supposed to use to get to the dance, so we had to go through the south entrance. When we got to the entrance and told the guard we were lost, he totally ignored us and waved us through. Neither of us had ANY idea where we were going and so we drove around aimlessly for a good fifteen minutes, trying to find the ballroom... thingy. We finally stopped at the Inn (yeah, there's an inn on base) and asked for some directions. The people that worked there didn't know where we were supposed to go, either! So finally, she and I drove out of the inn with a map, trying to figure out where to go when we saw a limo drive past us. Jazzie screamed, "OMG! Follow the limo!" So we did... and we eventually got to where we needed to be... only to find out we had driven past the place, like, TWICE. It was great! We were laughing the entire time we were lost.
After prom she and I went to Jack in the Box at one in the morning and then chilled in the parking lot eating in my car, listening to the radio. "Puttin' on the Ritz" by Taco came on, which I thought was great. When we were finishing our meal, we watched ELEVEN police cars race down 1st Avenue (the police station is directly across from the Jack in the Box). I'm still curious to know what that was all about.
We then stopped at the Shell station across the street and I got some ice cream which I just gave up eating and put in the freezer. The guy at the register looked kinda ticked off that Jazzie and I were there at 1 in the morning. I really don't blame him. It's people like us that make 24/7 stores necessary. xD
So at 1:30-ish I took Jazzie home and, on the way, Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" and Melissa Etheridge's "Fearless Love" came on, two of my favorite songs, on top of "Puttin' on the Ritz". That totally made my night!
So, I'm still wired on... something... not sure what. I'm wide awake, though, so I probably won't be falling asleep for awhile. Sorry if this journal doesn't make sense. It makes sense to me... right now... at 2am... xD
Anyways, I had a great time. Best. Prom. Ever. It was a great prom to end my high school life with. I seriously hope graduation is just as awesome. :3
